The first doll we will call “Nina” is angry with her father for neglecting it. He has not beaten her with two hammers, locked her in a closet, nor left her in a dumpster on Christmas morning. Nina’s father usually works seven days a week, in order to pay for the exclusive private school to which he feels compelled to send Nina and her two younger brothers.
